NEW HORIZONS – SOLAR GALLERY Ilkley 3 July – 19 December 2021

The NEW HORIZONS exhibition is a celebration of Solar Gallery artists’ work during the lockdown closure of Ilkley Manor House. Some have been able to create much new work and some like me have been busy in other ways for the duration.

The challenge of creating work for this fresh exhibition has inspired me to make work in different ways.

My painting SUNSET (the featured image) is not new but is full of colour and hope for the future.

Two new unframed collages ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE and AND ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN MERELY PLAYERS, quotes from Shakespeare’s As You Like It, are about the pressures of social media and the fact that everyone’s best lives and successes are out there causing many to be anxious and under confident.
However we all play parts on the stage of life throughout our lives and need to try to be comfortable with this and who we are, not constantly comparing ourselves with others however difficult it is to ignore social media noise.
