DOVETAILING RESPONSES – ILKLEY MANOR HOUSE, Ilkley 4-7 November 2021
June 25, 2022
Participating and responding to the stunning @dovetailing2021 installation in The Meeting House, near Bolton Abbey was an exciting challenge.
.
Connections were made between makers in wood and wood related crafts including making musical instruments, mobile making, photography, film and sound producing a collaborative, diverse and thought-provoking artistic endeavour.
.
This first DOVETAILING exhibition was initiated by @clairedearnaley film maker extraordinaire and @julietgutch superb mobile sculptor. Their beautiful work took centre stage in the DOVETAILING RESPONSES exhibition an immersive experience which included sound, music, dance, poetry, painting, textile art, printmaking and nature art.
.
Artists were offered the opportunity to respond to dovetailing2021, a magical exhibition about the making of a musical instrument, mobile sculptures, and film each connected to the other by crafting wood for a variety of purposes and experiencing the calm and meditative qualities found in nature.
.
My response was to create three paintings following two seeds, maple and spruce
