Softly, Softly

Acrylic on Canvas 61 x 61 cm

I have been walking around the breathtaking Yorkshire countryside with friends and family enjoying the fresh air and stunning countryside visiting some of the places Turner chose as viewpoints. There is so much water here; waterfalls tumble and crash between hard rocks. The spray and the sunlight throw up rainbows everywhere. It is just exhilarating. I am attempting to capture some of this in ‘Softly, Softly’.

On Top of the World

Acrylic on Canvas 91 x 91 cm

When on holiday in Finland for Christmas with the family we were in awe of the magnificent skies, exclaiming “look at the sky” at regular intervals every day. One particular excursion involved driving snowmobiles for miles across frozen lakes and up and up to witness the colours of the sunset in spite of there being no visible sun. We were surrounded by an icy fairytale landscape, which was wondrous beyond description. This painting is an attempt to depict something of that view and feeling.
